About us
In interdisciplinary teams from clinic, industry and science, we develop patient-friendly solutions for image-guided minimally invasive medicine. Clinicians define the needs, while interdisciplinary teams develop, test and integrate customised diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for oncology, neurology and cardiology. We improve healthcare of today and tomorrow as a research and innovation centre for image-based medicine.
Our public-private partnership is formed by Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Siemens Healthineers AG and the STIMULATE Association with over 40 members from the medical technology industry and science.
The research group leaders Eric Einspänner and Martin Volk represented STIMULATE with talks and chaired sessions on AI, medical physics, radiobiology and radiochemistry. They also presented research on agent-based patient education and on improvements to radiation-free angiography training.

On October 26, 2026, STIMULATE will welcome representatives of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) in Magdeburg. The visit will focus on current research and development projects in medical technology, AI, medical imaging, sensor technology and robotics, as well as questions surrounding the patenting of software- and AI-related inventions.
The ‘Gender Data Gap in Medicine and Research’ summer school, taking place from 28 September to 2 October 2026 at the Research Campus STIMULATE in Magdeburg, equips researchers with methodological skills for gender-sensitive vascular research, focusing on data gaps, AI-supported bias analysis and personalised therapeutic approaches. On November 12, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., transPOTENTIAL invites companies, start-ups, initiatives and students to the MedTech Meet & Greet 2.0 at STIMULATE (G82-R120). The event offers an opportunity to discover exciting players in medical technology, learn about projects, technologies and career opportunities, and make new connections. The programme includes short company and start-up pitches, insights into transFORM and Co-Founder Pitches, followed by open networking with drinks and finger food. Registration is now open.
