Summer School 2026 GENDER DATA GAP

The ‘Gender Data Gap in Medicine and Research’ summer school, taking place from 28 September to 2 October 2026 at the Research Campus STIMULATE in Magdeburg, equips researchers with methodological skills for gender-sensitive vascular research, focusing on data gaps, AI-supported bias analysis and personalised therapeutic approaches.

Urban Utopia Summer School

At the Open Day at OVGU, STIMULATE will be presenting the two medical technology degree programmes – the ‘Bachelor’s in Medical Technology’ and the ‘Master’s in Medical Systems Engineering’ – and will be happy to answer any questions about the programmes.

This year, STIMULATE will be at its own exhibition stand at Medtech Live to provide information on the latest research in interventional imaging and to network.

Girls & Boys Day

On National Career Orientation Day, 30 schoolgirls will gain insights into the medical technology industry, medical technology courses at OVGU and current fields of research at the research campus. transPORT is offering a socio-cultural programme at Wissenschaftshafen Magdeburg for a group of schoolchildren.

Medical tech at the Science Sisters Event

From 4 p.m. onwards, you can visit our STIMULATE show ambulance on the main campus of OVGU. We will be bringing along various experiments from the field of medical technology, which you can try out for yourself, and at the same time provide information about bachelor's and master's degree programmes in medical technology at OVGU. Master's students from Halle gain insights into current research fields on minimally invasive image-guided therapies at the Research Campus STIMULATE.

transPORT Generationenforum with the topic “Healthcare tomorrow – between demographic change and new responsibilities”

Join us on 11 March, 4–6 p.m. at the Forschungscampus to discuss this together! Together with Steffi Suchant, head of the TK regional office in Saxony-Anhalt, and CDU member of the state parliament Tobias Krull, we will talk about new roles, new ideas and how healthcare can be secured for everyone tomorrow.
After a short keynote speech, we will engage in a direct exchange to share perspectives, identify challenges and develop solutions.

Visit of Editha Gymnasium

A school group from Editha Gymnasium gains insights into medical technology research and medical technology degree programmes at OVGU.

Intellectual property rights workshop for OVGU employees

The first workshop in this series provides an introduction to intellectual property rights and the processes at OVGU, from notification to possible acquisition when founding a company. Current best practice examples will also be provided. The workshop will take place on 19 February 2026 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in training room R120 in German. The invitation will be send by email.

The workshop series will take place every six months in German and English with alternating topics.

Walk & Talk at the Science Harbour

Special colloquium on robotics in surgery

Benjamin D. Killeen, PhD (Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics, Johns Hopkins University, currently at Department of Computer Science, Technical University of Munich) : In Silico Models for AI-driven Surgical Teaming

Artificial intelligence (AI) is enhancing healthcare systems with automated capabilities in medical imaging, data science, and surgery. However, its benefits are generally limited to areas where data is abundant and suitable for machine learning. Realizing the next generation of AI-enabled applications in the operating room will require alternative data sources for designing, training, and validating intelligent surgical systems, from individual AI models to fully embodied autonomous assistants. Fortunately, in silico simulation offers a highly controllable environment for replicating medical interventions, ranging from intra-operative image formation to entire workflow modeling. In this talk, we will discuss the sim-to-real pathway for creating autonomous surgical assistants in X-ray image guided procedures, transforming robotic C-arm devices from expensive cameras to intelligent members of the surgical team. We will also explore how in silico simulation environments can be used to understand and enhance surgical teamwork, paving the way for advanced human-robot interactions in surgery. Finally, we will explore how in silico modeling of synthetic patient populations can enable automated bias detection in AI models, ensuring safe and robust deployment across populations.
