Prof. G. Rose
Executive Board Member, Speaker STIMULATE, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg | |
The three-member Executive Board steers the strategic direction of STIMULATE. It draws up the long-term research programme, formally integrates new experts and cooperation partners into the work, and represents the research campus externally. The three research campus partners – Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Siemens Healthineers AG and the STIMULATE Association – each appoint a representative to the STIMULATE Executive Board.

Institutions that are important for the STIMULATE research campus from a regional, political and economic perspective, such as the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and Siemens Healthcare GmbH, send key decision-makers to the steering committee. The steering committee does not interfere in the day-to-day operations or strategic direction of the STIMULATE research campus. Instead, this high-level body serves to coordinate the interests and goals of important stakeholders in the research campus and acts as a constructive and critical sparring partner for the executive board.

The Advisory Board, which is intended to contribute external scientific expertise in particular, advises the Executive Board on important scientific and strategic issues relating to the research campus. It also promotes the further development of the research programme. It may issue statements and recommendations on its own initiative on all matters.

The Innovation Board consists of experts from the scientific fields of all partners of the research campus. It advises and informs the Executive Board on the current content strategy of the focus areas and coordinates between the individual research fields at a higher level in order to identify and exploit existing synergy effects. The members of the Innovation Board elect a spokesperson. With the support of the administrative office, this person is responsible for convening, organising, chairing and following up on the quarterly meetings with the heads of the focus areas.
Dr. J. Schulz, Siemens Healthineers AG |
The research agenda of the STIMULATE research campus focuses on image-guided minimally invasive therapies for age-related oncological, neurological and cardiovascular diseases. Various imaging modalities are used. The combination of thematic priorities, target structures and imaging techniques used results in four clinical/technical focus areas. The work in each focus area is coordinated by a three-member management team with one representative each from industry, medicine and technology. The focus area managers are supported in their operational work by research group leaders who are responsible for the individual research projects.
