STIMULATE at Neurorad 2026 and at NeuroConnect

The Research Campus STIMULATE was represented at Neurorad 2026 in Mainz from 7 to 9 October 2026 with several scientific presentations. The focus was on innovative approaches to neuroradiological imaging, interventional treatment methods and the use of artificial intelligence.

Two poster presentations showcased recent research:

  • Arteriovenös-perfusionsverzögertes Kopfphantom zur Optimierung venös fokussierter neuroradiologischer Bildgebung und Interventionen (Arteriovenous perfusion-delayed head phantom for optimising venous-focused neuroradiological imaging and interventions) – Martin Volk, Stefan Klebingat, Stefanie Feierabend and Daniel Behme.
  • Multimodaler LLM-Patientenassistent zur automatisierten Aufklärungsunterstützung in der Neuroradiologie: Pilotstudie und Systemarchitektur (Multimodal LLM patient assistant for automated consent support in neuroradiology: pilot study and system architecture) – Eric Einspänner, H. Schmerl and Daniel Behme.

The presentation ‘Identifying flow-driven sound sources in pulsatile tinnitus: A multimodal high-fidelity modelling approach for patients with sinus stenosis’, delivered by Janneck Stahl, Gabor Janiga, Tatiana Abou-Mrad, Roland Schwab, Daniel Behme, Ali Alaraj and Philipp Berg during the main session, focused on the modelling of flow-driven sound sources in pulsatile tinnitus and sinus stenosis.

Further presentations and practical training: Prof. Dr Daniel Behme from the Department of Neuroradiology at Magdeburg University Hospital presented modern flow diverters for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, as well as study results on stents for vascular diseases associated with pulsatile tinnitus. The lecture was entitled „RESOLVE-Studie – SiREX®-Stent zur Behandlung von pulsatilen Tinnitus infolge einer symptomatischen lateralen venösen Sinusstenose“ (‘The RESOLVE Study – the SiREX® stent for the treatment of pulsatile tinnitus resulting from symptomatic lateral venous sinus stenosis’). In addition, Prof. Behme led training courses in which doctors were able to practise interventional procedures on simulators and realistic vascular models.

Prof. Behme also contributed his expertise to NeuroConnect 2026 – the Central German Neurovascular Dialogue at Jena University Hospital. In his presentation, „Venöse Interventionen bei IIH und pulsatilem Tinnitus“ (‘Venous Interventions for IIH and Pulsatile Tinnitus’), he discussed minimally invasive treatment options for disorders of the cerebral veins and tinnitus synchronised with the pulse.
