STIMULATE at the Joint Meeting of the S3 Platform MedTech and Vanguard Initiative Smart Health
On 22 and 23 September 2026, representatives of regional healthcare and medical technology ecosystems from various European regions gathered in Jena for the joint on-site meeting of the S3 Platform MedTech and the Vanguard Initiative Smart Health Pilot. The meeting focused on exchanging insights into regional innovation activities, developing joint project ideas, and exploring new opportunities for cooperation and funding.
The Research Campus STIMULATE was also represented as part of the regional MedTech ecosystem. STIMULATE researcher Marcus Prier introduced the Research Campus and the AgriPETMRI transfer project, providing insights into the transfer of innovative MRI technologies to new fields of application. A particular highlight was a live demonstration of the OCRA Tabletop MRI System, which is being developed and used within the AgriPETMRI project. During the demonstration, Marcus Prier used the compact MRI system to scan the stem of a plant and subsequently presented the resulting image. The demonstration clearly illustrated how modern imaging technologies can also be applied beyond traditional medical applications and how research can create new opportunities for technology transfer and innovation.
In addition to the presentation of STIMULATE and AgriPETMRI, the meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen existing contacts, connect with new partners, and explore the potential for joint research and innovation projects. In various working and focus groups, participants presented regional activities, identified common areas of interest, and discussed approaches for future international projects.
The exchange with regional MedTech networks from different European regions also provided valuable insights into joint activities and opportunities for cooperation. Participants additionally gained insights into Thuringia’s healthcare and innovation ecosystem. For STIMULATE, the meeting provided an important platform to showcase its research and transfer projects, initiate new collaborations, and further strengthen European exchange.
