Sedivention presented innovative therapeutic approaches to obesity at the Research Campus
As part of its scientific colloquium, the Research Campus STIMULATE welcomed Dr Ute Nollert, MD, from the medical technology company Sedivention as a guest speaker. It is particularly pleasing to note that the company has set up its base at the Research Campus STIMULATE this year, thereby strengthening the growing innovation ecosystem for image-guided medical technology in Magdeburg.
In her presentation “Sedivention – Freezing the Hunger Feeling”, Dr Nollert outlined a novel approach to the interventional treatment of obesity. Around 1.2 billion people worldwide are affected by obesity, which is linked to numerous associated conditions and causes millions of deaths each year. Sedivention is developing an innovative medical device designed to enable a minimally invasive therapy for the treatment of obesity. The aim is to provide a gentle and cost-effective alternative to drug-based therapies and bariatric surgery.
Following the presentation, the participants took the opportunity to engage in an in-depth professional discussion on current developments in interventional medical technology and innovative therapeutic approaches to widespread conditions such as obesity.
Sedivention’s move to the Research Campus STIMULATE will further strengthen the network linking academia, clinical practice and industry. The close collaboration between research institutions and innovative companies creates the ideal conditions for bringing new medical technology solutions into clinical use more quickly and for improving healthcare in the long term.
Sedivention stellte innovative Therapieansätze gegen Adipositas am Forschungscampus vor
Der Forschungscampus STIMULATE begrüßte im Rahmen seines wissenschaftlichen Kolloquiums Dr. med. Ute Nollert vom Medizintechnikunternehmen Sedivention als Gastrednerin. Besonders erfreulich: Das Unternehmen hat sich in diesem Jahr am Forschungscampus STIMULATE angesiedelt und verstärkt damit das wachsende Innovationsökosystem für bildgestützte Medizintechnik in Magdeburg.
In ihrem Vortrag „Sedivention – Freezing the Hunger Feeling“ stellte Dr. Nollert einen neuartigen Ansatz zur interventionellen Behandlung von Adipositas vor. Weltweit sind rund 1,2 Milliarden Menschen von Adipositas betroffen, die mit zahlreichen Folgeerkrankungen verbunden ist und jährlich Millionen Todesfälle verursacht. Sedivention entwickelt ein innovatives Medizinprodukt, das eine minimal-invasive Therapie zur Behandlung von Adipositas ermöglichen soll. Ziel ist es, eine schonende und kosteneffiziente Alternative zu medikamentösen Therapien und bariatrischen Operationen bereitzustellen.
Im Anschluss an den Vortrag nutzten die Teilnehmenden die Gelegenheit zum intensiven fachlichen Austausch über aktuelle Entwicklungen in der interventionellen Medizintechnik und innovative Therapieansätze für Volkskrankheiten wie Adipositas.
Mit der Ansiedlung von Sedivention am Forschungscampus STIMULATE wird das Netzwerk aus Wissenschaft, Klinik und Industrie weiter gestärkt. Der enge Austausch zwischen Forschungseinrichtungen und innovativen Unternehmen schafft ideale Voraussetzungen, um neue medizintechnische Lösungen schneller in die klinische Anwendung zu überführen und die Gesundheitsversorgung nachhaltig zu verbessern.
