Cutting-edge translational research at the STIMULATE Colloquium
The Research Campus STIMULATE welcomed Prof Lynn Savic, MD, an internationally renowned expert in interventional radiology and image-guided cancer research, to the STIMULATE Colloquium on 23 July 2026. In her specialist lecture, ‘Multimodal Characterisation of the Tumour Microenvironment in Image-Guided Minimally Invasive Cancer Therapy’, she presented the latest research findings on the characterisation of the tumour microenvironment and its significance for precision medicine and minimally invasive cancer therapies.
Since June 2026, Prof. Savic has been a W2 Professor of Interventional Radiology at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and a senior consultant at Magdeburg University Hospital. Prior to this, she headed the renowned Minimally Invasive Tumour Therapies (MITT) Lab at the Charité in Berlin and conducted research at institutions including Yale University and Johns Hopkins University. Her scientific work combines molecular and functional imaging with immunological and proteomic analyses to identify new biomarkers for the successful treatment of liver tumours and to advance precision medicine in interventional oncology.
In her presentation, Prof. Savic impressively demonstrated how modern imaging, data-driven analysis and translational research can contribute to the further development of minimally invasive cancer treatments. The research approaches presented tie in directly with the objectives of the Research Campus STIMULATE, which is to develop innovative image-guided medical technology for more precise and patient-centred care for people with cancer. The STIMULATE colloquium also offered participants a valuable opportunity for professional exchange and to discuss new perspectives for joint research projects.
Translationale Spitzenforschung im STIMULATE-Kolloquium
Mit Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Lynn Savic begrüßte der Forschungscampus STIMULATE eine international ausgewiesene Expertin der interventionellen Radiologie und bildgeführten Krebsforschung zum STIMULATE-Kolloquium am 23.07.2026. In ihrem Fachvortrag „Multimodal Characterization of the Tumor Microenvironment in Image-Guided Minimally Invasive Cancer Therapy“ stellte sie aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse zur Charakterisierung der Tumormikroumgebung und deren Bedeutung für präzisionsmedizinische, minimal-invasive Krebstherapien vor.
Seit Juni 2026 ist Prof. Savic W2-Professorin für Interventionelle Radiologie an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg und Oberärztin an der Universitätsmedizin Magdeburg. Zuvor leitete sie das renommierte Minimally Invasive Tumor Therapies (MITT) Lab an der Charité Berlin und forschte unter anderem an der Yale University sowie der Johns Hopkins University. Ihre wissenschaftliche Arbeit verbindet molekulare und funktionelle Bildgebung mit immunologischen und proteomischen Analysen, um neue Biomarker für den Therapieerfolg von Lebertumoren zu identifizieren und die Präzisionsmedizin in der interventionellen Onkologie voranzubringen.
Mit ihrem Vortrag zeigte Prof. Savic eindrucksvoll, wie moderne Bildgebung, datengetriebene Analysen und translational ausgerichtete Forschung dazu beitragen können, minimal-invasive Krebstherapien weiterzuentwickeln. Die vorgestellten Forschungsansätze knüpfen unmittelbar an die Ziele des Forschungscampus STIMULATE an, innovative bildgeführte Medizintechnik für eine präzisere und patientenorientierte Versorgung von Menschen mit Krebserkrankungen zu entwickeln. Das STIMULATE-Kolloquium bot den Teilnehmenden zudem eine wertvolle Gelegenheit zum fachlichen Austausch und zur Diskussion neuer Perspektiven für gemeinsame Forschungsprojekte.
