Sedivention GmbH sets up on the STIMULATE Campus – innovation in minimally invasive obesity treatment
The medtech company Sedivention GmbH has recently set up operations at the Research Campus STIMULATE in Magdeburg’s Wissenschaftshafen and has also successfully completed a seed funding round worth 2.9 million euros. The round was led by bmp Ventures alongside the IBG funds. Other investors include the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Cambridge Ventures, superangels and the strategic investment arm of a global medical technology company.
With this fresh capital, Sedivention will continue to drive forward the development of its novel therapy for the treatment of obesity and take the next steps towards clinical application. The company is developing a minimally invasive, one-off treatment method that does not require surgery, implants or long-term drug therapy. The cryo-based therapeutic approach aims to directly influence the disrupted regulation of hunger and satiety, thereby addressing a key cause of obesity. A high-performance prototype has already been developed; the focus is now on preparing for clinical trials and achieving further regulatory milestones. “The successful funding round underlines the strong confidence that renowned investors have in Sedivention’s innovative strength and the potential of the technology to bring about lasting change in the treatment of obesity,” says the founding team led by Dr Ute Nollert and Dr Andreas Bröcker.
This development also sends a strong signal for the STIMULATE Campus. As a public-private partnership for medical technology, the Research Campus STIMULATE brings together science, clinical expertise and companies to conduct application-oriented and patient-centred research into new medical technologies and to bring them rapidly into clinical use. With this successful funding round, Sedivention has laid the foundations to further develop its technology and, in the long term, make a significant contribution to addressing one of the greatest health challenges of our time.

Das Medtech-Unternehmen Sedivention GmbH hat sich kürzlich am Forschungscampus STIMULATE im Magdeburger Wissenschaftshafen angesiedelt und zudem erfolgreich eine Seed-Finanzierungsrunde in Höhe von 2,9 Millionen Euro abgeschlossen. Angeführt wurde die Runde von bmp Ventures mit den IBG Fonds. Darüber hinaus beteiligen sich der High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Cambridge Ventures, superangels sowie der strategische Investmentarm eines weltweit tätigen Medizintechnikunternehmens.
Mit dem frischen Kapital wird Sedivention die Entwicklung seiner neuartigen Therapie zur Behandlung von Adipositas weiter vorantreiben und die nächsten Schritte auf dem Weg zur klinischen Anwendung realisieren. Das Unternehmen entwickelt eine minimal-invasive, einmalige Behandlungsmethode, die ohne operative Eingriffe, Implantate oder eine dauerhafte medikamentöse Therapie auskommt. Der kryobasierte Therapieansatz zielt darauf ab, die gestörte Regulation von Hunger und Sättigung direkt zu beeinflussen und adressiert damit eine zentrale Ursache von Adipositas. Ein leistungsfähiger Prototyp wurde bereits entwickelt; nun stehen die Vorbereitung klinischer Studien und weitere regulatorische Meilensteine im Fokus. „Die erfolgreiche Finanzierung unterstreicht das große Vertrauen renommierter Investoren in die Innovationskraft von Sedivention und das Potenzial der Technologie, die Behandlung von Adipositas nachhaltig zu verändern“, sagt das Gründerteam um Dr. med.
