Around 200 pupils explored medical technology at the Research Campus
As part of the school project days organised by Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, as well as other school visits, the Research Campus STIMULATE welcomed around 200 pupils from Saxony-Anhalt and beyond between 22 June and 1 July 2026. Together with the Bachelor’s degree programme in Medical Technology and the transPOTENTIAL team – part of the TransferRaum initiative transPORT and based at the research campus – the young people gained practical insights into studying, research and career prospects in medical technology. Through a total of 13 laboratory tours and demonstrations across nine laboratories, the participants – mainly Year 11 pupils, along with two Year 8 classes – gained first-hand experience of modern medical technology and current research.
Following an introduction to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in Medical Technology at OVGU, the participants experienced modern medical technology first-hand – from a live endoscopy on a melon, through image-guided interventions using MRI and angiography, to medical robotics and virtual reality in medicine. The aim was to bring research to life and spark interest in interdisciplinary fields of study and careers. During one-to-one discussions, many pupils took the opportunity to ask questions about studying, research and career prospects in medical technology.
On 22 June, two advanced English classes from Editha Gymnasium also visited the Science Harbour as an extracurricular learning venue. As part of their A-level ‘Science and Technology’ module, the pupils developed fictional cryptids in the transSCAPE workshop ‘Cryptozoology using AI’ and then gained insights into current research on virtual reality, tabletop MRI, angiography and medical robotics in the STIMULATE laboratories. The events impressively demonstrated how science, innovation and the promotion of young talent work together at Magdeburg’s Wissenschaftshafen.
Rund 200 Schüler:innen entdeckten Medizintechnik am Forschungscampus
Im Rahmen der Schulprojekttage der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg sowie weiterer Schulbesuche begrüßte der Forschungscampus STIMULATE zwischen dem 22. Juni und dem 01. Juli 2026 rund 200 Schüler:innen aus Sachsen-Anhalt und darüber hinaus. Gemeinsam mit dem Bachelorstudiengang Medizintechnik und dem am Forschungscampus angesiedelten transPOTENTIAL-Team der TransferRaum-Initiative transPORT erhielten die Jugendlichen praxisnahe Einblicke in Studium, Forschung und Berufsperspektiven der Medizintechnik. Im Rahmen von insgesamt 13 Laborführungen und Demonstrationen in neun Laboren lernten überwiegend Schülerinnen und Schüler der 11. Klassenstufe sowie zwei 8. Klassen moderne Medizintechnik und aktuelle Forschung hautnah kennen.
Nach einer Einführung in das Bachelor- und Masterstudium Medizintechnik an der OVGU erlebten die Teilnehmenden moderne Medizintechnik hautnah – von einer Live-Endoskopie an einer Melone über bildgeführte Interventionen mit MRT und Angiographie bis hin zu medizinischer Robotik und Virtual Reality in der Medizin. Ziel war es, Forschung greifbar zu machen und Interesse an interdisziplinären Studien- und Berufsfeldern zu wecken. Im persönlichen Austausch nutzten viele Schüler:innen die Gelegenheit, Fragen zum Studium, zur Forschung und zu beruflichen Perspektiven in der Medizintechnik zu stellen.
Bereits am 22. Juni besuchten zudem zwei Englisch-Leistungskurse des Editha-Gymnasiums den Wissenschaftshafen als außerschulischen Lernort. Im Rahmen des Abiturthemas „Science and Technology“ entwickelten die Schüler:innen im transSCAPE-Workshop „Kryptozoologie mithilfe von KI“ fiktive Kryptiden und erhielten anschließend in den STIMULATE-Laboren Einblicke in aktuelle Forschung zu Virtual Reality, Tabletop-MRT, Angiographie und medizinischer Robotik. Die Veranstaltungen zeigten eindrucksvoll, wie Wissenschaft, Innovation und Nachwuchsförderung im Magdeburger Wissenschaftshafen zusammenwirken.
