STIMULATE at the 1st Magdeburg Digital Health Symposium
On 19 June 2026, the Research Campus STIMULATE took part in the first Digital Health Symposium organised by Magdeburg University Hospital. The event was hosted by the Institute for Medical Data Science, headed by Prof Julian Varghese, and brought together numerous participants from the fields of medical informatics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and digital healthcare.
In his keynote speech, ‘STIMULATE goes clinic: minimally invasive and maximally innovative’, PD Dr Philipp Berg demonstrated how innovative technologies for image-guided, minimally invasive therapies are being developed at the Research Campus and successfully translated into clinical practice. The focus was on the close collaboration between engineering, medicine and digitalisation, as well as the importance of data-driven approaches for the medicine of the future.
For the Research Campus STIMULATE, the symposium provided an important platform for further enhancing the visibility of its research activities in the clinical and digital health context. At the same time, the event opened up new opportunities for exchange and networking with doctors working in both clinical and research roles in the field of digital health.
The symposium clearly demonstrated that the future of healthcare is increasingly shaped by the close integration of medical technology, data science and clinical expertise – an approach that has been pursued for many years at the Research Campus STIMULATE.
STIMULATE beim 1. Magdeburger Digital Health Symposium
Am 19. Juni 2026 beteiligte sich der Forschungscampus STIMULATE am ersten Digital Health Symposium der Universitätsmedizin Magdeburg. Die Veranstaltung wurde vom Institut für Medical Data Science unter der Leitung von Prof. Julian Varghese ausgerichtet und brachte zahlreiche Teilnehmende aus den Bereichen Medizininformatik, Bioinformatik, Künstliche Intelligenz und digitale Gesundheitsversorgung zusammen.
Mit der Keynote „STIMULATE goes clinic: minimal-invasiv und maximal-innovativ“ zeigte PD Dr. Philipp Berg auf, wie am Forschungscampus innovative Technologien für bildgeführte minimalinvasive Therapien entwickelt und erfolgreich in die klinische Anwendung überführt werden. Im Mittelpunkt standen dabei die enge Zusammenarbeit von Ingenieurwissenschaften, Medizin und Digitalisierung sowie die Bedeutung datengetriebener Ansätze für die Medizin der Zukunft.
Für den Forschungscampus STIMULATE bot das Symposium eine wichtige Plattform, um die Sichtbarkeit der Forschungsaktivitäten im klinischen und digitalen Gesundheitskontext weiter zu stärken. Gleichzeitig eröffnete die Veranstaltung neue Möglichkeiten für den Austausch und die Vernetzung mit klinisch tätigen sowie wissenschaftlich arbeitenden Ärztinnen und Ärzten im Bereich Digital Health.
Das Symposium verdeutlichte eindrucksvoll, dass die Zukunft der Gesundheitsversorgung zunehmend durch die enge Verzahnung von Medizintechnik, Datenwissenschaft und klinischer Expertise geprägt wird – ein Ansatz, der seit vielen Jahren am Forschungscampus STIMULATE verfolgt wird.
