MedTech made in Magdeburg: STIMULATE at MedtecLIVE
The Research Campus STIMULATE exhibited at MedtecLIVE in Stuttgart alongside the Saxony-Anhalt Investment and Marketing Corporation – and received a clear message from visitors: Magdeburg is increasingly being recognised as a hub for high technology, innovation and transformation, demonstrating exceptional dynamism when compared with the rest of the country.
For Jonas Crackau (Business Attraction & Start-up Support) and Anna Bernovskis (Research Group Medical Flows), the event also marked a personal milestone: the first international presentation of the new knowledge transfer and business attraction activities as part of the BMFTR projects STIMULATE and transPORT. Both initiatives demonstrate how consistently stakeholders from the worlds of science, business and politics have, over the years, built up an ecosystem that today sets standards nationwide and attracts international attention.
The focus was on the latest developments in the field of image-guided therapies. International manufacturers and high-tech start-ups, in particular, showed great interest in the strength of the research, the close links to clinical practice and the speed of technology transfer that are possible at Wissenschaftshafen Magdeburg. Time and again, the phrase was heard: “Conditions like these are unique in Germany.”
Many visitors saw Magdeburg – and the Science Harbour in particular – as a visible driving force behind a process of economic transformation: medical imaging, robotics, AI and patient-centred applications are coming together here to form an ecosystem. This development has only been possible because state and federal policymakers – with support from European Union funding – have strategically developed and strengthened the region over many years.

Der Forschungscampus STIMULATE präsentierte sich gemeinsam mit der Investitions- und Marketinggesellschaft Sachsen‑Anhalt auf der MedtecLIVE in Stuttgart – und erhielt dort eine klare Botschaft von außen: Magdeburg wird zunehmend als Hochtechnologie‑, Innovations- und Transformationsstandort wahrgenommen, der im bundesweiten Vergleich eine außergewöhnliche Dynamik entfaltet.
Für Jonas Crackau (Ansiedlungsmanagement & Startup Support) und Anna Bernovskis (Research Group Medical Flows) war der Auftritt zugleich ein persönlicher Meilenstein: die erste internationale Präsentation der neuen Transfer‑ und Ansiedlungsaktivitäten im Rahmen der BMFTR‑Vorhaben STIMULATE und transPORT. Beide Initiativen zeigen, wie konsequent Akteur:innen aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Politik über Jahre hinweg ein Ökosystem aufgebaut haben, das heute bundesweit Maßstäbe setzt und international Beachtung findet.
Im Mittelpunkt standen aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bereich bildgeführter Therapien. Besonders internationale Herstellende und Hochtechnologie‑Startups zeigten großes Interesse an der Forschungsstärke, der klinischen Nähe und der Transfergeschwindigkeit, die im Wissenschaftshafen Magdeburg möglich sind. Immer wieder fiel der Satz: „Solche Bedingungen sind einmalig in Deutschland.“
Der Standort Magdeburg – und insbesondere der Wissenschaftshafen – wurde von vielen Besuchenden als sichtbarer Motor eines wirtschaftlichen Transformationsprozesses wahrgenommen: Bildgebung, Robotik, KI und patientennahe Anwendungen wachsen hier zu einem Ökosystem. Diese Entwicklung ist nur möglich, weil die Landes‑ und Bundespolitik – unterstützt durch Mittel der Europäischen Union – den Standort über Jahre hinweg strategisch aufgebaut und gestärkt hat.
