Dialogic walks and town hall meetings strengthened exchange at Science Harbour
As part of a transfer format organised by TransferRaum transPORT, based at the Research Campus STIMULATE, several dialogue-based ‘Walk & Talk’ walks took place in February through Magdeburg's Science Harbour. The aim of the format was to create an open space for exchange, questions, discussions and ideas for shaping the Wissenschaftshafen. People from different backgrounds and professions guided participants through the district and opened up a variety of perspectives on the location, its history and its future development.
Overall, the four Walk & Talk formats offered an opportunity to get to know the Science Harbour as a lively place for research, work and living. The walks also included a visit to the Harbour Gallery, which presented the latest content and results of the transPORT workshop projects and the Research Campus STIMULATE, making them accessible to a wider public. In this way, research and transfer activities were made visible and embedded in a social context.
The walks were followed by the Town Hall Meeting ‘Science Harbour 2026+’, organised by the transPORT workshop project transSCAPE. The event combined local and global perspectives on the development of the Science Harbour and provided a space for dialogue between stakeholders from science, culture, urban development and society.
The Town Hall Meeting ‘Science Harbour 2026+’, organised by the transPORT workshop project transSCAPE, served to deepen the dialogue initiated during the walks. Following an introduction to the objectives of transPORT/transSCAPE, a gallery walk provided insights into local initiatives, before a panel discussion opened up global perspectives on the future development of the Science Harbour. In an open exchange, wishes, needs and tourist and cultural potential were discussed together.
Representatives from the Research Campus STIMULATE actively participated in the Walk & Talk formats and the subsequent Town Hall Meeting. The formats facilitated exchange between science, urban society and other stakeholders and addressed perspectives on the future development of the Science Harbour.
Dialogische Spaziergänge und Town Hall Meeting stärkten den Austausch im Wissenschaftshafen
Im Rahmen eines Transferformats des am Forschungscampus STIMULATE ansässigen TransferRaums transPORT fanden im Februar mehrere dialogische „Walk & Talk“-Spaziergänge durch den Wissenschaftshafen Magdeburg statt. Ziel des Formats war es, einen offenen Raum für Austausch, Fragen, Gespräche und Ideen zur Mitgestaltung des Wissenschaftshafens zu schaffen. Menschen mit unterschiedlichen Lebenshintergründen und Professionen führten durch den Stadtteil und eröffneten vielfältige Perspektiven auf den Ort, seine Geschichte und seine zukünftige Entwicklung.
Insgesamt boten die vier Walk & Talk-Formate Gelegenheit, den Wissenschaftshafen als lebendigen Forschungs-, Arbeits- und Lebensraum kennenzulernen. Bestandteil der Spaziergänge war auch ein Besuch der Hafengalerie, die aktuelle Inhalte und Ergebnisse der transPORT-Werkstattprojekte sowie des Forschungscampus STIMULATE präsentierte und diese einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machte. Auf diese Weise wurden Forschungs- und Transferaktivitäten sichtbar und in einen gesellschaftlichen Kontext eingebettet.
Mit dem Town Hall Meeting „Wissenschaftshafen 2026+“, organisiert vom transPORT-Werkstattprojekt transSCAPE, wurde der Dialog aus den Spaziergängen gezielt vertieft. Nach einer Einführung in die Ziele von transPORT/transSCAPE ermöglichte ein Gallery Walk Einblicke in lokale Initiativen, bevor eine Podiumsdiskussion globale Perspektiven auf die zukünftige Entwicklung des Wissenschaftshafens eröffnete. Im offenen Austausch wurden Wünsche, Bedarfe sowie touristische und kulturelle Potenziale gemeinsam diskutiert.
Vertretende aus dem Forschungscampus STIMULATE nahmen aktiv an den Walk & Talk-Formaten sowie am anschließenden Town Hall Meeting teil. Die Formate ermöglichten den Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft, Stadtgesellschaft und weiteren Akteur:innen und griffen Perspektiven zur zukünftigen Entwicklung des Wissenschaftshafens auf.
