Successful 7th IGIC Conference at the Research Campus STIMULATE
With over 90 participants from research, clinical practice and industry, the 7th Conference on Image-Guided Interventions (IGIC), organised by the M2OLIE and STIMULATE Research Campuses, came to a successful conclusion at the Research Campus STIMULATE. Two days of innovative presentations, exciting discussions and practical insights into the latest developments in image-guided interventions made the event a resounding success.
The conference opened with a high-profile panel discussion featuring contributions from the worlds of science and politics, including Parliamentary State Secretary Dr Silke Launert from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), Prof Dr Jens Strackeljan, Rector of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, and Prof Dr Armin Willingmann, Minister for Science, Energy, Climate and Environmental Protection of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. The plenary lectures on combined vascular and ablative interventional procedures were met with particular interest and provided valuable insights for practical application.
The technical sessions presented cutting-edge developments in MRI and CT-based procedures: from AI-supported image processing and photon-counting CT to new approaches for MR thermometry and 3D bioprinting. Numerous poster presentations and the industrial exhibition offered participants the opportunity to experience innovative technologies up close and deepen interdisciplinary networking. One focus was on the integration of artificial intelligence into interventional technology. Among other things, approaches for automated needle tracking systems, multi-agent workflows in radiology and the use of AI for oncology were presented. At the same time, sessions on simulations and robotics offered practical insights into future training and intervention environments.
In addition to the technical depth, there was also plenty of opportunity for personal exchange: a joint evening at Elbwerk Magdeburg and an optional city tour allowed participants to network and initiate new collaborations in a relaxed atmosphere.

Erfolgreiche 7. IGIC-Konferenz am Forschungscampus STIMULATE
Mit über 90 Teilnehmenden aus Forschung, Klinik und Industrie ging die durch die Forschungscampi M2OLIE und STIMULATE ausgerichtete 7. Conference on Image-Guided Interventions (IGIC) am Forschungscampus STIMULATE erfolgreich zu Ende. Zwei Tage voller innovativer Vorträge, spannender Diskussionen und praxisnaher Einblicke in die neuesten Entwicklungen der bildgestützten Interventionen machten die Veranstaltung zu einem vollen Erfolg.
Die Konferenz eröffnete ein hochkarätiges Podium mit Impulsen aus Wissenschaft und Politik, darunter die Parlamentarische Staatsekretärin Dr. Silke Launert aus dem Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR), Prof. Dr. Jens Strackeljan, Rektor der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, sowie Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann, Minister für Wissenschaft, Energie, Klima- und Umweltschutz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt. Besonders die Plenarvorträge zu kombinierten vaskulären und ablativ-interventionellen Verfahren stießen auf reges Interesse und lieferten wertvolle Impulse für die Praxis.
In den fachlichen Sessions wurden cutting-edge-Entwicklungen in MRI- und CT-gestützten Verfahren vorgestellt: Von KI-gestützter Bildverarbeitung über Photon-Counting-CT bis hin zu neuen Ansätzen für MR-Thermometrie und 3D-Bioprinting. Zahlreiche Posterpräsentationen und die industrielle Ausstellung boten den Teilnehmenden die Gelegenheit, innovative Technologien hautnah zu erleben und interdisziplinäre Vernetzung zu vertiefen. Ein Schwerpunkt lag auf der Integration von künstlicher Intelligenz in die Interventionstechnik. So wurden unter anderem Ansätze für automatisierte Needle-Tracking-Systeme, Multi-Agenten-Workflows in der Radiologie und die Nutzung von KI für die Onkologie vorgestellt. Parallel dazu boten Sessions zu Simulationen und Robotik praxisnahe Einblicke in zukünftige Trainings- und Interventionsumgebungen.
Neben der fachlichen Tiefe kam auch der persönliche Austausch nicht zu kurz: Ein gemeinsamer Abend im Elbwerk Magdeburg und eine optionale Stadtführung ermöglichten den Teilnehmenden, in entspannter Atmosphäre Netzwerke zu knüpfen und neue Kooperationen anzustoßen.
