Successful completion of the Industry-in-Clinic project: mediMESH establishes itself as an independent platform
The Research Campus STIMULATE looks back on the successful completion of the Industry-in-Clinic project. With mediMESH GmbH, founded in March 2022, the project has given rise to an independent platform that has successfully established its services on the market.
The aim of the project was to support medical technology companies in the development of innovative products in the clinical environment – particularly against the backdrop of new regulatory requirements and complex human-machine interactions. To this end, a novel service portfolio was created that provides access to clinical expertise, state-of-the-art imaging and practical process analysis.
A key part of the implementation phase was the testing of five model projects with partners from industry, clinics and research. Topics such as robot-assisted, image-guided therapies, novel neurovascular stents, modular vertebral implants and innovative concepts for sterile interaction with medical technology devices illustrated the broad range of applications. These practical pilot projects have demonstrated how the platform accelerates the transfer between research, clinical application and industry.
It is particularly noteworthy that mediMESH has grown beyond digital internships: today, the platform offers interactive clinical instructions, process standards and training content – multilingual, increasingly AI-supported and compliant with data protection regulations. This not only increases efficiency and patient safety in clinics, but also facilitates the training of international specialists.
Another highlight was the award at Investforum Pitch Day 2024, where mediMESH received the special health prize. The start-up has now grown to seven employees and is actively driving forward the digital transformation in healthcare.
For STIMULATE, mediMESH is an excellent example of how an idea can become a sustainable business. Here, science, clinical practice and industry successfully converge.
Erfolgreicher Abschluss des Industrie-in-Klinik-Projekts: mediMESH etabliert sich als eigenständige Plattform
Der Forschungscampus STIMULATE blickt auf einen erfolgreichen Abschluss des Industrie-in-Klinik-Projekts zurück. Mit der im März 2022 gegründeten mediMESH GmbH ist aus dem Vorhaben eine eigenständige Plattform hervorgegangen, die ihre Dienstleistungen erfolgreich am Markt etabliert hat.
Ziel des Projekts war es, Medizintechnikunternehmen bei der Entwicklung innovativer Produkte im klinischen Umfeld zu unterstützen – insbesondere vor dem Hintergrund neuer regulatorischer Anforderungen und komplexer Mensch-Maschine-Interaktionen. Dazu wurde ein neuartiges Dienstleistungsportfolio geschaffen, das den Zugang zu klinischer Expertise, modernster Bildgebung und praxisnaher Prozessanalyse ermöglicht.
Ein Kernstück der Umsetzungsphase war die Erprobung von fünf Modellvorhaben mit Partnern aus Industrie, Klinik und Forschung. Themen wie roboterassistierte, bildgestützte Therapien, neuartige neurovaskuläre Stents, modulare Wirbelkörperimplantate oder innovative Konzepte zur sterilen Interaktion mit Medizintechnikgeräten verdeutlichten das breite Anwendungsspektrum. Diese praxisnahen Pilotprojekte haben gezeigt, wie die Plattform den Transfer zwischen Forschung, klinischer Anwendung und Industrie beschleunigt.
Besonders hervorzuheben ist, dass mediMESH über digitale Hospitationen hinausgewachsen ist: Heute bietet die Plattform interaktive klinische Anleitungen, Prozessstandards und Fortbildungsinhalte – mehrsprachig, zunehmend KI-gestützt und datenschutzkonform. Damit werden nicht nur Effizienz und Patientensicherheit in der Klinik gesteigert, sondern auch die Einarbeitung internationaler Fachkräfte erleichtert.
Ein Highlight war zudem die Auszeichnung beim Investforum Pitch Day 2024, bei dem mediMESH den Sonderpreis Gesundheit erhielt. Inzwischen ist das Start-up auf sieben Mitarbeitende angewachsen und treibt die digitale Transformation im Gesundheitswesen aktiv voran.
mediMESH ist für STIMULATE ein hervorragendes Beispiel, wie aus einer Idee ein nachhaltiges Unternehmen wird. Hier fließen Wissenschaft, klinische Praxis und Industrie erfolgreich zusammen.
