Double success for STIMULATE researchers at ESMINT 2025
Two scientists from the Research Campus STIMULATE received awards at the 17th Congress of the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) in Marseille (3–5 September 2025): Dr Roland Schwab from the Neuro Clinic research group at Magdeburg University Hospital received the Best Poster Award, while Janneck Stahl from the Medical Flows research group was honoured with the Best European Publication Award.
Dr Roland Schwab's award-winning poster is entitled “Angiography-like neurovascular training without radiation utilizing optical cameras and virtual roadmap imaging”. On 5 September, he presented his work to an international audience of experts. The results show how optical cameras and virtual roadmap technologies can be used for radiation-free neurovascular training – an approach that can improve both patient safety and training quality in interventional neuroradiology.
Janneck Stahl's research work has also received international recognition: his publication with title “Flow-based simulation in transverse sinus stenosis pre- and post-stenting: pressure prediction accuracy, hemodynamic complexity, and relationship to pulsatile tinnitus” in the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, the official journal of the ESMINT Society, examines narrowings in the draining veins of the brain (sinus stenosis), which can play a role in triggering pulsatile tinnitus. Using numerical blood flow simulations, Janneck Stahl's team was able to gain previously unknown insights into the physical mechanisms of this globally underdiagnosed condition.

Doppelerfolg für STIMULATE-Forscher bei der ESMINT 2025
Gleich zwei Wissenschaftler des Forschungscampus STIMULATE wurden beim 17th Congress of the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) in Marseille (3.–5. September 2025) ausgezeichnet: Dr. Roland Schwab aus der Forschungsgruppe Neuro Clinic an der Universitätsmedizin Magdeburg erhielt den Best Poster Award, während Janneck Stahl aus der Forschungsgruppe Medical Flows mit dem Best European Publication Award geehrt wurde.
Das prämierte Poster von Dr. Roland Schwab trägt den Titel „Angiography-like neurovascular training without radiation utilizing optical cameras and virtual roadmap imaging“. Am 5. September präsentierte er seine Arbeit vor internationalem Fachpublikum. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, wie sich optische Kameras und virtuelle Roadmap-Technologien für strahlenfreies neurovaskuläres Training nutzen lassen – ein Ansatz, der sowohl Patientensicherheit als auch Ausbildungsqualität in der interventionellen Neuroradiologie verbessern kann.
Auch die Forschungsarbeit von Janneck Stahl wurde international gewürdigt: Seine im Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, dem offiziellen Journal der ESMINT Society, veröffentlichte Publikation mit dem Titel “Flow-based simulation in transverse sinus stenosis pre- and post-stenting: pressure prediction accuracy, hemodynamic complexity, and relationship to pulsatile tinnitus” untersucht Engstellen in den abführenden Gehirnvenen (Sinusstenosen), die als Auslöser von pulsatilen Tinnitus eine Rolle spielen können. Mithilfe numerischer Blutflusssimulationen gelang es dem Team um Janneck Stahl, bislang unbekannte Einblicke in die physikalischen Mechanismen dieser weltweit unterdiagnostizierten Erkrankung zu gewinnen.
