Aufbau eines Innovationsökosystems im Wissenschaftshafen Magdeburg

Mit der Initiative transFORM – Create the Ecosystem ist für die Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg am Forschungscampus STIMULATE ein Forschungs- und Transferprojekt bewilligt worden, welches die Entwicklung und den Aufbau eines international sichtbaren Innovationsökosystems im Bereich der Unternehmensgründungen von der Wissenschaft in die Wirtschaft fokussiert. Ziel ist es, die Medizintechnik in der Region nachhaltig zu fördern und den Technologietransfer zu stärken. transFORM initiiert und testet dabei innovative Transferformate und -methoden, mit dem Ziel neue Geschäftsideen oder Produkte zu entwickeln und Erfindungen und Ideen in erfolgreiche Produkte oder Dienstleistungen zu verwandeln, die dann auf den Markt gebracht werden können. Ausgangspunkt dafür ist der Magdeburger Wissenschaftshafen. Das Projekt wird durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung in der Programmlinie T!Raum –TransferRäume für die Zukunft von Regionen gefördert.

 

Ein Innovationszentrum mit Strahlkraft

Mit transFORM soll der Wissenschaftshafen mit Unterstützung der am Forschungscampus STIMULATE angereicherten Expertise und Infrastruktur zu einem national und international sichtbaren Medizintechnikstandort ausgebaut werden. Durch gezielte Maßnahmen wird die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft vertieft und die Entstehung neuer Unternehmen gefördert. Ziel ist die Schaffung eines Multiplikatoreffekts, der die regionale Wirtschaftsleistung steigert und langfristig neue Arbeitsplätze generiert. „Wir möchten eine Brücke zwischen Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft schlagen und so ein hochmodernes Innovationsökosystem gestalten, das Magdeburg und die gesamte Region stärkt,“ erklärt Prof. Dr. Georg Rose, Verbundkoordinator und Sprecher des Forschungscampus STIMULATE.

 

Schwerpunkte des Vorhabens

  • Startup-Förderung: Entwicklung und Durchführung von Accelerator-Programmen, die Gründerprojekte aus der Wissenschaft auf den Markteintritt vorbereiten.
  • Kommerzialisierung verwaister Technologien: Identifikation und Marktfähigkeitsbewertung ungenutzter Technologien aus Wissenschaft und Industrie.
  • Ansiedlungsstrategie: Aufbau eines Ökosystems mit infrastruktureller Unterstützung für Startups und periphere Partnerunternehmen.
  • Netzwerkarbeit: Veranstaltungsformate wie Kaminabende und Großevents fördern die Zusammenarbeit und Vernetzung von Investoren, Startups und etablierten Unternehmen.

 

Positive Effekte für die Region

Das Projekt trägt maßgeblich zum Strukturwandel in Magdeburg bei. Durch die Etablierung eines medizintechnischen Hightech-Ökosystems wird nicht nur die Innovationskraft der Region gestärkt, sondern auch die wirtschaftliche Attraktivität des Wissenschaftshafens gesteigert.

transFORM ist eines von zunächst zehn Teilprojekten der Gesamtinitiative transPORT – Transferhafen Magdeburg, gefördert durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung in der Programmlinie T!Raum – Transferräume für die Zukunft von Regionen.

From science to business

Development of an innovation ecosystem in Magdeburg's port of science

With the transFORM - Create the Ecosystem initiative, a research and transfer project has been approved for Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg at the Research Campus STIMULATE, which focuses on the development and establishment of an internationally visible innovation ecosystem in the field of business start-ups from science to industry. The aim is to sustainably promote medical technology in the region and strengthen technology transfer. transFORM initiates and tests innovative transfer formats and methods with the aim of developing new business ideas or products and transforming inventions and ideas into successful products or services that can then be brought to market. The starting point for this is the Magdeburg Port of Science. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the programme line T!Raum - Transfer Spaces for the Future of Regions.

 

An innovation centre with radiance

With transFORM, the Port of Science is to be developed into a nationally and internationally visible medical technology location with the support of the expertise and infrastructure accumulated at the Research Campus STIMULATE. Targeted measures will intensify co-operation between science and industry and promote the creation of new companies. The aim is to create a multiplier effect that increases regional economic output and generates new jobs in the long term. ‘We want to build a bridge between science and industry and thus create a state-of-the-art innovation ecosystem that strengthens Magdeburg and the entire region,’ explains Prof Dr Georg Rose, network coordinator and spokesperson for the Research Campus STIMULATE.

 

Focal points of the project

  • Start-up support: Development and implementation of accelerator programmes that prepare start-up projects from science for market entry.
  • Commercialisation of orphaned technologies: Identification and marketability assessment of unused technologies from science and industry.
  • Settlement strategy: Development of an ecosystem with infrastructural support for start-ups and peripheral partner companies.
  • Networking: Event formats such as fireside chats and major events promote collaboration and networking between investors, start-ups and established companies.

 

Positive effects for the region

The project is making a significant contribution to structural change in Magdeburg. The establishment of a high-tech medical technology ecosystem will not only strengthen the innovative power of the region, but also increase the economic attractiveness of the Port of Science.

transFORM is one of initially ten sub-projects of the overall initiative transPORT - Transferhafen Magdeburg, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the programme line T!Raum - Transfer Spaces for the Future of Regions.
