Industrie und Klinik Plattform – Konzeptionsphase

On October 1, 2020, the 6-month conceptual phase of the Industry in Clinic platform initiated by the cooperation partners Raylytic GmbH, University Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Magdeburg with LIAM GmbH, and the Research Campus STIMULATE began. The cooperation partners jointly responded to the announcement "Establishment of Industry in Clinic Platforms for the Development of Innovative Medical Devices" by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. This announcement is derived from the recommendations of the national strategy process "Innovations in Medical Technology" and aims to address the challenge of creating innovative research structures in medical technology.

The idea behind the platform to be developed in the conceptual phase is to provide medical device providers for diagnostic and therapeutic image-guided procedures with a central organizational unit that has access to clinical capacities, expertise, and information for their product development. The platform creates a development cycle that considers the product in its overall context beyond the invention period. All services provided are bundled with professional project, quality, and risk management, thereby supporting areas typically coordinated by companies themselves through evaluation and preparation of project results. This eliminates innovation barriers and accelerates the product development and approval processes from conception to market surveillance.

At the end of the conceptual phase, a comprehensive project proposal with a business plan will be submitted to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to potentially enter a three-year pilot phase. The pilot phase includes model projects through which the platform's services are extensively tested and evaluated in the real market.

Mit dem 01.10.2020 startete die 6-monatige Konzeptionsphase der durch die Kooperationspartner Raylytic GmbH, Universitätsklinik für Radiologe und Nuklearmedizin Magdeburg mit der LIAM GmbH sowie dem Forschungscampus STIMULATE initiierten Industrie in Klinik Plattform. Die Kooperationspartner nahmen gemeinsam die Bekanntmachung „Aufbau von Industrie-in-Klinik-Plattformen zur Entwicklung innovativer Medizinprodukte“ des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung wahr. Diese Bekanntmachung leitet sich aus den Handlungsempfehlungen des nationalen Strategieprozesses „Innovationen in der Medizintechnik“ ab und zielt auf die Herausforderung zur Schaffung innovativer Forschungsstrukturen in der Medizintechnik.

Die Idee der in der Konzeptionsphase aufzubauenden Plattform ist es, den Anbietern von Medizinprodukten für diagnostische und therapeutische bildgeführte Prozeduren eine zentrale Organisations­einheit mit Zugang zu klinischen Kapazitäten, Expertisen und Informationen für ihre Produkt­entwicklung bereitzustellen. Dabei entsteht bei Nutzung der Plattform ein Entwicklungskreislauf, der das Produkt über den Erfindungszeitraum hinaus in seinem Gesamtkontext betrachtet. Mit einem professionellen Projekt-, Qualitäts- und Risikomanagement werden alle erbrachten Leistungen gebündelt, womit durch Auswertung und Aufbereitung der Projektergebnisse Aufgabenbereiche unterstützt werden, welche typischerweise die Unternehmen selbst koordinieren müssen. So werden Innovationshemmnisse beseitig und die Produktentwicklungs- und Zulassungsprozesse von Konzeption bis zum Produkt bzw. der Marktüberwachung beschleunigt.

Am Ende der Konzeptionsphase wird dem BMBF ein vollumfänglicher Projektantrag mit Businessplan vorgelegt, um dann in eine eventuelle dreijährige Erprobungsphase einzutreten. Die Erprobungsphase beinhaltet sogenannte Modellvorhaben, durch welche die Dienstleistungen der Plattform ausgiebig am realen Markt erprobt und evaluiert werden.
