Balance disorder therapy is typically managed with medication combined with physiotherapeutic training. The Medißalance Pro medical device by MediTECH Electronic GmbH has successfully established itself in the market. However, it is currently used only in specialized therapy centers for dizziness treatment and is limited to training the control of balance focus.

In the context of an international ZIM project, with the Research Campus STIMULATE as a research partner, the aim is to upgrade the existing hardware with an advanced AR-based operating and game interface. Additionally, the system is set to be enhanced with a multiphysiological sensor system. The project’s goal is to develop a prototype for a new medical device that, through these innovations, will enable a more comprehensive and effective therapy for balance disorders.

Die Therapie von Gleichgewichtsstörungen erfolgt üblicherweise durch Medikamente in Kombination mit physiotherapeutischem Training. Das Medißalance Pro Medizingerät der MediTECH Electronic GmbH hat sich erfolgreich auf dem Markt etabliert. Derzeit wird es jedoch nur in spezialisierten Therapiezentren zur Behandlung von Schwindel eingesetzt und beschränkt sich dort lediglich auf das Training der Kontrolle des Gleichgewichtsfokus.

Im Rahmen eines internationalen ZIM-Projekts, bei dem der Forschungscampus STIMULATE als Forschungspartner beteiligt ist, wird nun angestrebt, die bestehende Hardware mit einer fortschrittlichen AR-basierten Betriebs- und Spieloberfläche auszustatten. Darüber hinaus soll das System um ein multiphysiologisches Sensorsystem erweitert werden. Ziel des Projekts ist die Entwicklung eines Prototyps für ein neues Medizingerät, das durch diese Innovationen eine noch umfassendere und effektivere Therapie von Gleichgewichtsstörungen ermöglichen soll.
